Mothering Sunday is a celebration held to honour mothers and maternal figures (past and present), for all that they have done and do.
What makes your mum special and why are you honouring her today?
Today, I honour my mum for instilling the importance of education in me from an early age.
Growing up poor was hard, as we always struggled to make ends meet in more ways than one. Despite this, my mum had high ambitions for us and even though we could not afford to buy many books, my mum would ensure that we visited the library on a weekly basis, which segmented my love of reading and learning…
…Even now, 20 years on, I still smile as I recall my graduation ceremony and hearing my mum’s proud comments and cheers echoing through the auditorium as I was presented with my Bachelor of Education Degree.
So, this one is for you mum…
Thank you for instilling the importance of education in me,
Thank you for supporting me when you could barely support yourself,
Thank you for believing in me when others had written me off,
Thank you for always telling me that I “had the right stuff”,
Thank you for all that you do and continue to do for me and the rest of the family.
Such a beautiful insightful piece- really good for the soul. All you have had instill in you, you continue to use to help other grows. We honour you!
