I’m Diane Thompson — an Executive Coach, leadership consultant and former Headteacher with over 20 years of experience developing confident, capable and resilient leaders across the UK.

What I Specialise In
My work centres on leadership development, resilience and wellbeing, with a strong focus on supporting women and underrepresented leaders to thrive.
I support professionals to build confidence, strengthen leadership identity and develop the communication, influence and strategic thinking needed to progress into senior roles.
Much of my work also focuses on helping leaders manage the pressures that come with responsibility. Through coaching, leaders develop practical strategies to manage stress, regulate emotions and maintain sustainable performance in demanding environments.
Alongside individual coaching, I work with organisations and schools across the UK to strengthen leadership capability, improve team culture and embed wellbeing practices that support both performance and resilience.
Leadership Experience That Shapes My Coaching
Before becoming an Executive Coach, I spent more than two decades leading in education, including serving as a Headteacher.
During this time I led school improvement, developed leadership teams and supported teachers and senior leaders to grow in confidence and capability.
This experience means I understand leadership not just in theory, but in practice — navigating accountability, managing change, supporting staff wellbeing and balancing performance with humanity.
My coaching is grounded in lived leadership experience, not abstract models.
I hold an ILM Level 7 qualification in Executive Coaching and Mentoring and bring a psychologically safe, evidence-based approach to every coaching relationship.

The Courage Over Comfort Philosophy
The name Courage Over Comfort reflects a simple truth: growth rarely happens inside our comfort zone.
Throughout my career I have seen how powerful coaching can be in helping leaders challenge limiting beliefs, step into their potential and lead with clarity and confidence.
My mission is to make high-quality leadership coaching accessible — particularly for professionals who may not always see themselves represented in leadership positions.
